The last flight for me for the decade, It was so good I could do it everyday

They say the journey is half the fun. We had a great adventure just getting to Spot X and the day was a great success. High gusty winds, and very cold ones at that, meant that not all paraglider pilots launched but for a winters day it was great to sit in the sun and watch those that did launch enjoy the wide very blue yonder.

A tough take off and the pilot  has her hands full (so to speak)  but comes through it fine, high winds make it a difficult take off but she makes it off and has a great fly and an nice top landing.

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Am8Uph5ywd8[/youtube] The pilot had a small hiccup on this take off but handled it is style, he kept his cool all the way, its a cool head that pervales. Tandem takeoff turns to terror .... Turbulence takes the tamdem toward trees.

The call came in the other day "Franky, your new custom wing has arrived" Well, I was happier than, ...than. .. well I was happy, real happy, I was so happy you could even call me Ken (Now thats happy). The next thing was to plan the escape from the misses for two days while I went to Laurieton to get my new pride and joy. Read the rest of this entry »

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAO9pakHlEM[/youtube]The day started when Bob cruised past my house on the way to Cromarty launch ahead of the expected southerly change, we talked on the radio with me giving wind speed and direction updates until my internet went down around 3pm. Bob or Jason went off to Crackers to see if i had come on there and I don't know what happened to them after that, shame they didn't wait some more My web came back on at quarter to 4 and I went straight to the BOM and it was on At Crackers SE 10-11 knots, I grabbed the wing and head straight for Crackers expecting to find the air full of wings. I had a nice fly on Saturday at Forresters Beach ... all by myself, I phoned a few other pilots to come and join me but only Jeff (shrek) Terry turned up just as I landed, which was convenient as my car was at the top of the hill. The wind was from the South at around 11 knots. As usual I scared myself in my Trango 2 (DHV 2.3), I have to get rid of that wing and go back to a DHV 2. I can not make up my mind what I will get, either a Niviuk Arktic 2 or a UP Summet XC.
